Update on MA Legislation

Rule changes by the current Congressional session (194th) means the House and Senate versions of the bill have different requirements to make their ways through the legislative process. I have a timeline of events on the MA Assisted Suicide 2025-2026 page, including the late changes.

Either bill can come out of these committees at any time. Of significance is the legalization of assisted suicide in Illinois and the anticipated legalization in New York given that Gov. Hochul announced she would be signing the bill. This gives momentum to the medical killing movement. That one state has already and another soon will legalize this practice despite the horrors that are occurring where legal is shocking.

Eileen died March 8, 2025 in Washington State from MAiD drugs she had been dispensed. That is the same state with the 30% doctor failure rate to submit documentation in 2022. She was not a resident of WA; she did not have a terminal illness. Washington state has since decided to simply stop statistical reporting, but not the practice.

Compassion and Choices (C&C) just keeps repeating the same line, that it’s only for terminally ill patients and no problems have ever come about where legal. C&C CEO Kevin Diaz wrote in a letter to the Wall Street Journal, “While Washington state’s decision to curtail reporting collected data is unfortunate, we do have 27 years of data from there and other jurisdictions that show the practice is safe.” He, Sen. Comerford, and any legislator expressing that same magical thinking need to see this video.

The money C&C has poured into Illinois and New York will now be free to move to Massachusetts. People need to know just how dangerous this is. If you have not been involved with stopping the “MAiD” in Massachusetts, now is the time to get active in the Central/Western MA coalition opposing PAS.
